SLIS Professor Jean Preer was featured in the August/September 2009 issue of American Libraries (page 68). The article was titled "Best of ALA 2009." It opened by saying:

• "There is no prouder moment for those who have dedicated their lives to a career in librarianship than being recognized by colleagues and friends for achievement above and beyond the ordinary."

America Libraries is the publication for the American Library Association (ALA).

"Jean Preer: Ethics Champion" was the title of a box highlighting her achievements. Excerpts include:

  • "Jean Preer's Library Ethics (Libraries Unlimited 2008) was selected from a large and strong field of nominated books, according to the award jury. Preer was recognized for her comprehensive approach to an issue that pervades every aspect of modern library life…"

  • Preer was honored with the Greenwood Publishing Group Award for the Best Book in Library Literature. The $5,000. award was for the "best book that helps library professionals in the areas of management principles and practice, understanding and application of new techniques, or furthering the education of librarians or other information professionals."
